OPEN ENROLLMENT
LOTTERY REGISTRATION
Complete the form below to register your student for the 2026–2027 Open Enrollment Lottery Waitlist.
All waitlist entries are added in chronological order (based on registration date and timestamp), following the prioritized names determined during the 2026 Lottery.
Complete all questions to ensure your student’s information is correctly entered into our lottery database.A new application must be submitted for each child.
The lists of names entered into the lottery for the 2026–2027 school year will be posted in the windows at the Prestley Mill Road entrance after March 2nd, 2026.
We strongly encourage all parents/guardians to review the lists to confirm your child is listed in the correct grade level for the 2026–2027 school year.​
Changes CANNOT be made once the lottery has taken place on March 2nd, 2026.
School Admissions

Eligibility
All Douglas County residents are eligible to apply to Brighten Academy. Admission is non-selective and does not require testing; the school does not discriminate on any basis prohibited by law. After enrollment, students participate in assessments to inform appropriate grade placement and instructional planning.
Registration
Enrollment is open February 1–15.
Apply online during the enrollment window. Families without internet access may register on campus. Students selected through the lottery will complete enrollment paperwork and placement assessments prior to enrollment.
Priority Enrollment
Enrollment priority is given in the following order:
1. Currently enrolled students
2. Children of full-time faculty, instructional staff, and Governing Board members
3. Siblings of currently enrolled students who reside in Douglas County
4. All other eligible students
Brighten Academy serves Douglas County residents only, with the exception of children of staff members.
IMPORTANT!
​If the number of applications exceeds the grade level capacity during any phase of placement a lottery will be held to populate a waitlist with priority being given as outlined in the Priority Enrollment section.

Wait List
Lottery and waitlist positions do not carry over from year to year. When a seat becomes available, families will be contacted by phone and, if available, email. Families have 72 hours (3 days) to respond and complete registration before the seat is offered to the next student on the waitlist. It is the responsibility of parents/guardians to keep contact information current.
Important School Information

School starts at 7:50 am for elementary and middle school students.

Students can be dropped off beginning at 7:10 am.

School ends at 3:15 p.m. for elementary and middle school students, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Parents must park and come to their student's dismissal zone to pick up their student.

Wednesdays are EARLY RELEASE, dismissing at 11:45 am. Other than this, we follow the Douglas County School System calendar.

We offer a fee based After School Program each day.

We do not offer a bus service; however, we have several daycare centers that pick up each day.

We have a dress code that is strictly enforced.

We require that parents volunteer 20 hours per family per year.
